 Pastoral Council
The Parish Pastoral Council, a group of faithful men and women, called by the parish to serve as consultant to the pastor in assuring that all aspects of parish life reflect the mission and ministry of Jesus and the community of St. Mark’s. The Pastoral Council, in communion with one another, together and guided by the teachings of the Gospel and the Holy Spirit meet to deliberate and decide, in common agreement, those matters for which they are responsible, and, through active participation in spiritual and social activities and leadership, they will minister for the overall well-being of the Parish. The Council consists of members-at-large, each serving a term of three years and chairpersons for the committees. The Pastoral Council meets the first Monday of the month. Current members are

  Finance Council

An advisory or consultative body to the Pastor in matters pertaining to the ordinary and extraordinary matters if financial administration. The Finance Council is a body of parishioners, known for their spiritual maturity and love of Christ, endowed with either special competence in financial matters or prudent judgment, who offer their time and talent as a Christian service to assist the Pastor in the development and management of the parish's financial resources so that the parish may effectively pursue its mission of spreading Christ's Gospel of Love. Members are appointed by the pastor to serve. The Finance Council meets bi-monthly.

Stewardship Continuance Committee plans, executes and facilitates follow-up of the Capital Campaign – Building Our Future Home ~ Together. The continuation committee relies on volunteers of the parish to help with any of the many administrative tasks and planning strategies.

 
Parish Life Blood
            Technical

  • Computer assistance is often needed to produce flyers, notices, instructions, notes for meetings, signs, etc. using Microsoft Office, Power point and the internet.
  • Audio/Visual technology enhances our educational, training and occasionally our worship. The sound and sight equipment needs vary. Set-up and proper storage requires attention to detail and some familiarity of uses.
  • Photography/Videography skills are needed throughout the year on a periodic basis.  As volunteer archivists, the capture of parish life to share is controlled through the data base administrator to protect privacy. In-house professionals, familiar with St. Mark procedures are recommended for special events and celebrations, as requested.
  • Treasury of the parish family collections is sorted, counted and documented weekly. Organization, attention to detail and accuracy is necessary.

 

            Creative

  • Building and grounds volunteers oversee the physical condition of the parish plant and the needs of the buildings and grounds. Landscaping, gardening, handyman, maintenance, cleaning Makes recommendations to the parish administrator for expenditures for repairs and improvements.
  • Seamstress volunteers complete sewing, embroidery, minor repair of linens, vestments, and occasional shirt. Group creation of special banners, decorations for liturgical use.

Specific

  • Office Aides muti-task in general receptionist and office support duties, copying, stuffing bulletins, answering phones, etc. for a few short hours at a time as needed or on a regular basis. Flexibility, confidentiality and desire to do whatever it takes to help out is important.
  • Kitchen Angels prepare meals for the priests according to dietary requirements on a weekly basis.

Bereavement Committee
This committee provides caring support to members of the parish when they experience the loss of a loved one. Members of this committee work together upon the death of a parishioner and host a reception at St. mark’s upon the family's request. The bereavement committee will sponsor an annual Mass for parishioners who have died during the year.

Knights of Columbus
We are a Catholic, fraternal organization dedicated to the principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. All Catholic men over the age of 18 are encouraged to join. There isn’t a great time commitment; we meet on the first Wednesday of each month. We sponsor several family-based activities, as well as, fund-raisers to support our many charitable works including our local parish. For more information contact


Pro-Life Opportunities Respect Life
We promote respect for life across its spectrum from conception to natural death. Some of our activities include:
- March for Life in Tucson, AZ (Coordinating Transportation)
- National Night of Prayer for Life in December, including four hours of Eucharistic adoration, prayer and the rosary.
- Support of the Pregnancy Centers of Tucson including the Spring Walk for Life, fall banquet, Christmas Angel Tree and Christmas Eve children’s liturgy collection.
- National and other local and diocesan activities as they arise such as petitions and postcards for congressional bills.

 

Cactus Comfort If there is anyone you know who is in need of comfort, suffering from illness, bereavement, physical or spiritual need, or someone who is just in need of a warm blanket hug, we have shawls and blankets for you, parishioners, your family and friends. Free. Please join us once a week, once a month, or work from home. Meetings on Monday, 9:00 – 10:30 AM in the classroom at the Church. Donations accepted for yarn or Michael’s Gift Cards. Call the Parish Office.
Sociable Seniors meet together monthly to plan for social activities and special events.

 

Rosary Makers meet monthly on a Saturday to make the rosaries on display in the rosary case. Please join this rewarding ministry

Fun & Frolic with the goal and purpose to help family members grow in faith in God, love for each other, and understanding of what it means to be a family. Fun & frolic events encourage and support families as they fulfill the tasks they have in facing various stages of the family life cycle. Activities encourage families, in all their many forms, to be a sign of God's saving love, to be faithful to their call to holiness and affirms the sacredness of everyday life. Help to support families through involvement and participation in parish picnics, banquets, dances and more fun & frolic.

 

Hospitality & Social Activities
Our mission is to help build community within the parish by planning parish socials, seasonal parties, picnics and receptions. Responsible for planning social events which currently include the Lenten Soup Supper, after-Mass receptions, and other events. New members with all levels of experience are welcome at any time and may choose to help in a variety of ways including:

  • Proposal - Planning
  • Promotion - Recruitment
  • Decoration & Set-Up
  • Purchasing - Preparation
  • Coordination & Clean up

Meals for Special Needs (coordinator and volunteers needed)
Members occasionally make a meal for parishioners who have had a recent death in the family or who are dealing with serious illness/surgery in the family.

Sunday Coffee and Donuts
Committee prepares coffee and donuts after Sunday Mass. Volunteers are needed to either set-up before the 8:00 Mass or clean-up after the 10.00. Volunteers are asked to commit once a month.

Welcoming Committee
Provide a welcoming environment by contacting new parishioners by phone or writing and/or assisting at the welcoming meeting every other month. Commitment time: 2-4 hours per month. Additionally this committee also hopes to provide ushers at seasonal Masses.
